Gas Furnace Prices

Gas furnaces which use methane and other gases in petroleum fields are becoming more popular than their petroleum or electrical counterparts. The gas is supplied to your home via a pipeline supply from your local gas company. These furnaces consist of a thermostat controlled ignite which are activated according to a set minimum temperature. This warms up your home by expelling the warm air through ducts which open in your rooms. Although there is a long term saving, this may be modulated by the initial purchase and installation costs.

One of the good advantages of a high efficiency gas furnace is that it burns, and has much less fumes and emission than that of oil furnaces. If uses much less fuel than petroleum and electrical furnaces to warm the same size of house. It also has a heating efficiency with a 90% AFUE, which an internationally recognized unit if measure. All these factors contribute to it having much less exhaust and not requiring a chimney. The end result is much less air pollution. In other words we can say it is more green or Eco-friendly. This is also an important consideration in our time. The price of gas is also much cheaper than electricity, making it more cost effective to operate.

Unfortunately natural gas is not available everywhere, and is therefore not easily available to everyone. On the safety side, gas leaks can be extremely dangerous. This is easily prevented by having a regular maintenance plan in place. Fortunately gas leaks can easily be recognized or detected by its extremely distinctive smell.

A gas furnace for your home could cost anything from between $1, 700 and $4, 000 depending on the size of your house. If you want to consider high efficiency furnaces, you could even be speaking from about $5, 000 to $7, 500. Besides the cost of the furnace, there are other costs you also need to budget for. Just to install the furnace could amount to thousands of dollars. Another factor which could spiral costs even further is determined if your home has had some form of central heating or not. If it has had central heating, then you are fine as the old ducting spaces could be used. If you have not, then a new ducting system needs to be put place, in from scratch. This is quite a large job, and could add another few thousand dollars to your gas furnace costs.
